Wild Basin Solar-Powered Visitor Center

Our trip to Wild Basin came on a tip from an employee of Austin Energy.  We were told that its office and visitor center were as reliant on solar power as any public facility in the Austin area. We visited there in early March and were impressed by the large array of solar panels on the roof of the center and the informative display outside the building. See the pictures we took, below, and read the comments of several of the students who visited this site.

Comments:

“At Wild Basin there were solar panels, about 50 of them. In my life I’ve never seen so many solar panels, only in pictures. I never thought they would look so incredible.  The panels looked like glass.” Norma

“At the Wild Basin we saw a poster that showed the renewable energies and there were four of them. It was very exciting to see what energies are renewable because that was something I didn’t know before.” Mercedes

“I liked Wild Basin because I got to see the solar panels and it was awesome.”  Ashley

“It was so cool to see how solar panels worked. I really learned some things about how to use and save electricity.” Caresa

“That was my first time seeing solar panels. I have never seen something like that produce so much electricity.” Michael
