Holly Street Natural Gas/Oil Power Plant

Due to the heightened security at power plants, we were never able to visit the Holly Power Plant, located only eight blocks from our school. We did make a trip there at the beginning of March to see what we could from a distance. Below you can read the comments of some of the students and see the pictures that we took. Check out the interview with Mr. Reggie Horton, one of the workers at this power plant in the fosslsuel interview section.

Comments:

“When I would play baseball right next door to the Holly Power Plant, I never knew what was being held in the tanks which is oil in case of emergencies”. Veronica

“I have seen the Holly power plant many times. When my class went there we saw that only one unit was working out of four of them and I would have never noticed that if I was riding my bike around Holly. “Tony

“Our class went to the Holly Power Plant. We saw 1 unit working. My teacher explained some of the things the Holly Power Plant does.  That amazed me because I never really knew what the Holly Power Plant did until I started working on the project.” Mercedes

“When I was running in marathon kids I passed by Holly Power Plant and never knew what it was.  Now I know how it works and how many Mega Watts it puts out.”  Bronson

“We got to see the plant and the four units.  Also we got to see a unit that was working.  I thought that was awesome.”    Ashley
