What's Next The groundbreaking ceremony for the "Dino Pit" exhibit was held on Friday, March 22, 2002. This exhibit will open at the Austin Nature and Science Center in summer 2002. Dignitaries included Gus Garcia, Mayor of Austin; Larry Faulkner, President of the University of Texas at Austin; Jesus Olivares, Director of Parks and Recreation; Ed Theriot, Director of the Texas Memorial Museum of Science and History and Sarah Butler, Honorary Chairperson of the Dino Pit Project. This interactive, outdoor paleontology exhibit will include the "Dig and Discover" area containing over 15 reproductions of fossils found in Texas. Others components will include a dinosaur trackway and a field collection display of fossils found in Austin. Visitors will have the opportunity to participate in the role of a paleontologist as they discover bones in the field and learn about the identification process in a laboratory. Zavala Young Scientists will continue study about the power of the past with the Austin Nature and Science Center!
