Dominic Duval (d)
Jackson Krall (b)
Knitting Factory, NYC
Notes: "The shows were outstanding,
with two sets each night by I was particularly impressed with Duval's
degree of serious listening and consequent interaction with C.T. Cecil's
playing is
astonishingly fresh, something I told him hours before the concert.
His reaction was, "if I didn't do that, it would be boring,"
(a word I'd never use for Cecil's work)."

CECIL
TAYLOR SOLO
Jordan Hall, New England Conservatory, Boston, MA (Jordan
Hall 100th Anniversary Concert)
Primary source: CDR: Joe Washek: in personal email to jason: nadamusic@earthlink.net
" CT in Boston 03 is a recording of his solo set at the 100th anniversary
of Jordan Hall (at his alma mater NEC). CT's set is app 32 mins, as
I remember. It's on a disc with Lacy, Ran Blake and Miroslav Vitous
sets from the same concert. Needless to say, CT's set was nearly 3 times
as long as anyone else's. He was in great form and made John Medeski's
prior solo set seem like child's play. CT insisted that he close the
alumni part of the concert and play on a piano that hadn't been used
by anyone else that night. For some unknown reason he also insisted
on not being introduced but just sauntered onto the stage and began
to play! Anyway, if you still want it, you'll get his complete performance
but it's only app 32 mins."
